[Lesson for beginners] What to do before photoshooting/ entering the water.
A must-see for new underwater photographers.
How to set the waterproof case.
1. Have everything you need ready
(1) Digital Camera
(2) Waterproof Case
(3) Memory card
(4) Silica gel
*This is required to prevent fogging.
*Coat the rubber with the grease to keep it from drying.
(6) Pick for opening/closing and removing block and O-ring
*Grab the camera by the strap to keep it from being swept away
2. How to set the waterproof case
(1) Check the O-ring
To avoid water leak, check that the O-ring is in perfect condition and that there are no cracks or dust. Coat the O-ring with grease.
(2) Check that the O-ring is properly set
After setting the camera in the waterproof case, run your finger over the O-ring. Make sure the O-ring surface has no unevenness, dust or debris.
(3) Set silica gel
Sometimes, the silica gel (dessicant) gets caught in the O-ring and causes leakage. Make sure to push the silica gel all the way in.
(4) Lock the release knob and test for water exposure
Close the waterproof case and lock the release knob. Always perform a leak test by placing the camera in water for about 30 seconds.
(5) Press the buttons and check camera operation
While dipping the camera in water, check that no bubbles come from the edges of the waterproof case. While doing this, press the buttons and check the operation in the water.
[Some advice before shooting]
Once the camera is set in the morning, do not open the case until evening!
Dust may enter the waterproof case each time you open and close it, and this can cause accidents. After you set the camera in the morning, do not open the case until you return to your room. This is the most important point to remember to avoid water exposure.
Don't miss photo oppurunities.
It will be a great waste to miss the perfect photo opportunity because of dead batteries or full memory cards! Charge your battery the night before you dive! And make sure that you get large-volume memory cards.
Set your camera under good conditions!
Set your camera in the morning while you are in the hotel. Setting urgently at the beach may lead to mistakes and water exposure.
Practice button operations on land.
You may miss the perfect shot if you are struggling with the buttons. Put the waterproof case on and practice button operations.
After getting out of the water, rinse the waterproof case with tap water to clean it.
